ANTIQUE Folk Art COMPOSITION WOOD Horse Fur Tail PULL TOY Germany PLATFORM #1
For sale is an Antique Platform Horse Pull Toy. It is made of Composition or Paper Mache and has the same type of stick legs you would see on Nativity Putz Animals.  He is really nicely made and has a fur mane as well as a (what looks like a real) horse hair tail. The wooden base is painted in a light grayish or blue-grayish type paint and appears to have had some painted accents around the edge but they are very faded- it looks like there triangles on the edge- but it could just be the way the paint faded over the years.  He has a great  folk art antique look. The horse is white with gray accents and the horse also has a black painted rein on his body and face.  He has both attached small wooden ears as well as a fabric type partial mane attached.  The end of his legs are painted black for the hooves.  He has a really sweet face with black button eyes and a carved white nose with some red paint accents. The wooden base is 8.75” by 2.75" wide and he stands approximately 10” tall from bottom of wheels to top of wool or fur mane.
We believe the horse dates from 1895-1920.

He is in really good condition - especially the body which would normally have a lot of wear or cracks to the composition surface. There is some minor paint loss to the surface. This one has some minor paint loss see around the left back leg where it has chipped off but overall it is in really nice condition. The wheels do not roll easily as is the case with most of the wheels- they may have been replaced at one time in the life of the horse but this is just how we purchased it.
