Since you have been helpful in the past, I have additional information. I finally got confirming information about your stamp with the 8 holes at the show in Chicago. It is attributed to the Gideon B. Massey patent 250,376, Dec 6, 1881. A number of these are incorrectly attributed and even certified as Douglas Patent. There is no Douglas Patent.
There are 3 Massey varieties, large holes and 8 or 9 small holes in a circle. They all differ from a direct application of the patent but changes when something was produced are not uncommon. To see the patent, go to pat2pdf.org. Enter 7 digits, 0250376, fetch, and you should see it. Just giving you some additional info to add to your listing if desired.
