    THE GUESS WHO
THE BEST OF THE GUESS WHO
    I always did like
    The Guess
    Who
, especially 'American Woman' and ’No Time’. I like everything they ever recorded though, and I think
    Burton Cummings
    is one of the top-five
    best
    rock/pop singers ever.
    Randy Bachman
, needless to say, plays a mean lead guitar.
Listening to this compilation of their big hits today was a lot of fun.
The sound quality of this tape album is excellent ! Clean, crisp, dynamic and detailed audio laid over absolutely silent backgrounds makes me happy (I'm easy to please sometimes).
Both sides of this 4-track reel tape played from start to finish with absolutely no issues.
    The tape is fresh, it

s flat, shiny and supple throughout, and packed evenly on the original reel.
A new long white leader and a new long red tail were spliced onto the ends of this tape.
Please see the photos to check the condition of the box and reel.
The Best of The Guess Who
is the fourth compilation album by the
    Canadian
    group
    The Guess Who
. It was originally released by
    RCA Victor Records
    in
    April 1971
and contains recordings made between 1968 and 1970. The album reached number 12 on the
    Billboard
top LPs chart in the United States.
    A follow up,
The Best of The Guess Who Volume II
    ,
    was released in 1973.
Some of the songs on this album are edited single versions. The single version of “
    American Woman
” is missing an introduction. The single version of “
    Hang On to Your Life
" does not include the spoken excerpt from Psalm 22 at the end (though it is the album version that appears on this album).
In addition to the usual 2-channel stereo version the album was also released by RCA Victor in a 4-channel quadraphonic version on on 8-track tape and one-sided 4-track reel-to-reel.
    Gary Hill of
    AllMusic
says "It is sometimes hard to believe that the same group that brought the world the jazzy '
    Undun
    ' and the CS&N
    -ish hippie anthem '
    Share the Land
' is also responsible for the rocking '
    No Time
.' This 11-track collection paints a very entertaining picture of a mutli-talented band and is a perfect introduction for the casual fan."
    The Guess Who
    are
    a
    Canadian rock
    band
    , formed in
    Winnipeg
    ,
    Manitoba
in 1965. Initially gaining recognition in Canada, the group found international success from the late 1960s through the mid-1970s primarily under the leadership of songwriters
    Burton Cummings
    and
    Randy Bachman
    (later of
    Bachman-Turner Overdrive
) and recorded many hit singles, including

    No Time
    ",

    American Woman
    ",

    Laughing
    ",

    These Eyes
    ",

    Undun
    " and

    Share the Land
". Formed as a garage rock
    band,
their musical style encompassed the pop rock and psychedelic rock
    genres.
The band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1987. In 2002,
    Randy Bachman
    ,
    Burton Cummings
    ,
    Garry Peterson
    ,
    Donnie McDougall
    and
    Bill Wallace
    received the
    Governor General’s performing Arts Award
    for Lifetime Artistic Achievement
for the Guess Who's contribution to popular music in Canada. The band officially disbanded in 1975, with occasional reunions of the classic lineup since then. A band with one remaining original member, drummer Garry Peterson, continues to record and perform under the Guess Who name to this day.
