VINTAGE LINOLEUM FLOORING Distinctive Mid-Century Design FRESHLY SALVAGED!
This is the 2nd sheet of linoleum I have managed to salvage before this house is sold. Last week I had a larger sheet for sale with the exact same pattern but that sheet sold and is currently on its way to its new owner.
This new sheet measures 70 1/4" x 25 1/4"
or
6 feet 10 1/4" x 2 feet 1 1/4"
This comes from a Post-WWII house my parents bought brand new once this tract of homes became available when it was built in 1948. So even though the listing says 1950’s flooring, I’m positive this flooring was original to the kitchen when the house was built in 1948.
My father renovated and expanded the house and when he moved the kitchen to a completely new location in the house he salvaged the linoleum flooring that was originally installed as flooring for the kitchen. This is not surprising to me as he was a product of the Depression Era and nothing was wasted. I do not know how many years this spent as actual flooring in the original kitchen but I do know that this linoleum spent the majority of its life as the floor of a non-walk-in closet which is probably why it appears to be in such great shape. It is obviously old but is not discolored much. It has yellowed a little bit but otherwise looks fantastic!

Whoever does purchase this can pick it up for free if you are in the Los Angeles area. But if the sheet needs to be shipped just let me know what your preferences are regarding how to pack it. It could be shipped as is but that would be a rather large flat package that would probably be more expensive than most people are comfortable paying to ship something. So unless you have an incredibly good reason to have it shipped flat, either cutting it up or better, rolling it up would make the most sense. And I also was very surprised to discover this linoleum is still flexible enough to roll up. The last sheet I used both a hair dryer and a heat gun to heat the linoleum up making it much more flexible and it worked like a charm!
And like the last sheet, to prevent any cracks or damages to the edge I will wrap the outer edge with blue painters tape.
At least for me this shows that no glue or adhesive has been applied to the back side so no worries about having to clean up any messy glue residue or creating any unnecessary messes with glue. I applied blue painters tape to the longest edges from a 3 inch wide roll of tape which should ensure no accidental tears. My plan is to use a Lamp Box from UHaul which are large enough to accommodate this roll and large enough to encircle the roll in another cushioning material.
