Vintage original 8 x 10 in. mini lobby card from the epic 1990's drama/romance,
TITANIC
, released in 1997 by 20th Century-Fox and Paramount Pictures and
directed by James Cameron
. A seventeen-year-old aristocrat (Kate Winslet) falls in love with a kind but poor artist (Leonardo DiCaprio) aboard the luxurious, ill-fated RMS Titanic. The cast includes Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Frances Fisher, Gloria Stuart, Bill Paxton, Bernard Hill, Victor Garber, and Jonathan Hyde.
The image depicts a dramatic exterior shot of the port side of the sinking RMS Titanic as a lifeboat hits the freezing Atlantic water while pandemonium reigns on the entire ship. It is unrestored in very fine- condition as shown with a small diagonal crease on the bottom right corner.
The film notoriously spiraled wildly over budget during production and was referred to by the press as “Cameron’s Folly.” He had the last laugh, however, as
Titanic
was nominated for an astonishing 14 Academy Awards and won 11 of them, including “Best Director”(James Cameron) and the coveted “Best Picture” Award.
